Founded in 1975, Microsoft is the largest software publisher for personal and business computing in the world. Since its inception Microsoft has quickly expanded from business applications and operating systems to some of the most popular PC games of all time, like MechWarrior, Age of Empires and Flight Simulator.
In March 2000 Microsoft announced the Xbox, a state-of-the-art console that would go up against industry veterans, Sony and Nintendo. Microsoft has offices in more than 50 countries and currently employs a staff of almost 40,000 people.
