“King’s Quest – A Hand Painted Game” Dev Diary

Today Sierra™ is sharing the latest developer diary from the upcoming King’s Quest™, based on the groundbreaking adventure game series of the same name. Titled “King’s Quest – A Hand Painted Game,” this video takes you behind the scenes with Art Director Evan Cagle and Producer Lindsey Rostal of The Odd Gentlemen to see how the artwork of King’s Quest is born on the page before coming to life on screen.

For The Odd Gentlemen, creating a fantastic but compelling world true to the spirit of King’s Quest required going back to the lessons of old. Beginning with 1990’s King’s Quest V, Sierra devised a way for its artists to draw out their ideas in vivid color and detail before scanning them into the game for further polishing. Now, 25 years later, the team is employing a similar technique to give this incredible reimagining of a classic tale the truly stunning storybook look it deserves.

The first chapter of King’s Quest is expected to arrive later this year as a digital download on the PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment systems, Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, the Xbox 360 games and entertainment system from Microsoft, and Windows PC.

I've been an avid gamer since I stumbled upon ZORK running in my local Radio Shack in 1980. Ten years later I was working for Sierra Online. Since then I've owned nearly every game system and most of the games to go with them. Not sure if 40+ years of gaming qualifies me to write reviews, but I do it anyway.
