  • Every since the day I unpackaged my Nintendo GameCube I have been unhappy with the controller that came with it. The game pad just seemed “too small”; something I was unaccustomed to after complaining just a few days prior (after the Xbox launch) that the Xbox controller was “too large”. My poor relationship with the standard game pad spilled over into the enjoyment of all of the games that I played on the system and probably tainted my overall opinion of the GameCube itself.

Fortunately for me, and all of you who share my dissatisfaction of Nintendo’s controller, MadCatz is here to save the day with a new controller that destroys the standard game pad in design, comfort, and function.

The MadCatz Cubicon is the perfect size and shape for adult gamers. Save that indigo controller for the kids and wrap your fingers around the textured rubber grips on the twin-pods of this awesome adult-sized device. The additional size allows you to easily reach the C-stick and the D-pad as well as the front triggers and the extra button opposite the standard Z button. There is also a handy macro button that lets you program your favorite combos. Delight in the smooth motion of the twin control sticks and marvel at the smooth action of the pressure-sensitive buttons.

The vibration effects are much stronger on the Cubicon giving you enhanced feedback when playing your favorite games. The Cubicon also comes with an 8’ braided-steel cable - about 2' longer than the standard controller cable, so you can reach your favorite chair or the sofa without dragging your GameCube across the carpet.

The Cubicon sells for only $19.99. That’s $15 cheaper than Nintendo’s inferior controller, and with the MadCatz Lifetime Warranty this should be the first controller you buy to replace the one that came with your system, and the last one you need to buy when filling up those other 3 game ports.

It’s not often that a peripheral can change the overall perception of an entire gaming system, but the Cubicon does exactly that. This is the ultimate GameCube controller and your system won’t be complete until you have one.
