CALL OF DUTY: VANGUARD’S GRAPHICS ARE SO REAL, ACTUAL WAR JOURNALISTS WENT INSIDE THE GAME ENGINE TO CAPTURE PHOTOGRAPHS OF IT

Today, Call of Duty revealed a new collaboration that, for the first time, allowed actual war photojournalists inside Call of Duty®: Vanguard to capture in-game war photographs that feel true to life, through the lens as if they were embedded within the war missions themselves.

Renowned long-time war photojournalists Alex Potter and Sebastiano Tomada Piccolmini have vast experience shooting in conflict regions, including numerous battles throughout the Middle East. For the upcoming release of the World War II-themed Vanguard, which is scheduled for release on November 5th, the two ventured inside the game engine for an exclusive photoshoot held at publisher Activision’s motion capture studios. Potter and Piccolmini’s journeys were then reflected in a trailer, allowing fans to see these photographers’ experiences and reactions in real time.

Call of Duty: Vanguard captures the epic intimacy of World War II in an incredibly immersive manner,” said Fernando Machado, Chief Marketing Officer, Activision Blizzard. “We tested its realism by sending in Alex Potter and Sebastiano Tomada Piccolomini with special camera-like portals into the game engine itself, which took them back in time as if they were a photographer in that period, showing how real Vanguard will truly look and feel to gamers everywhere.”

Vanguard’s incredible graphics and visual immersion reflect the latest technological advancements coming when the new game launches next month, including its use of photogrammetry where locations, scenes and objects are recreated in-game to lifelike photoreal quality.

Photojournalists Alex and Sebastiano waited for the right moments to snap their shots the same way they would on the ground. “These were situations that I would normally capture,” said Alex Potter in the film. “I was impressed with how kinetic and immersive it all was,” added Sebastiano Tomada Piccolmini. “As photographers, this is what conflict looks like.”

Limited edition prints of the Call of Duty: Vanguard in-game photography will be available at www.BleeckerTrading.com and Bleecker Trading NY starting at 3pm ET on October 21. All proceeds from the photography sales will be donated to the Call of Duty Endowment.

“This special collaboration presents a great opportunity to continue raising awareness and honoring our veterans as we further our mission to help them find high-quality jobs,” said Dan Goldenberg, Executive Director of the Call of Duty Endowment.

The Call of Duty Endowment has funded the placement of more than 90,000 veterans into high-quality employment since its inception and aims to place 100,000 veterans into meaningful jobs by 2024. The Endowment’s 2020 cost to place a veteran was $515, providing employment at about 1/9 the cost of U.S. Department of Labor efforts.

To help get veterans back to work, please visit: www.callofdutyendowment.org/help, or follow on Instagram and Facebook at @CallofDutyEndowment, and Twitter at @CODE4Vets.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is scheduled for release on November 5, 2021. Vanguard is the newest release from the blockbuster franchise that has sold over 400 million copies to date over its lifetime.

STAR-LORD TURNS TO PLAN B IN NEW TV SPOT FOR MARVEL’S GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

Today, Eidos-Montréal revealed a brand-new, high-octane TV spot to set the stage for next week’s official launch of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. In the trailer, viewers are dropped straight into the middle of a mid-battle Huddle, where Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket and Groot assess the situation, discuss strategy and, of course, banter before deciding to go with Plan B — an all-out, coordinated assault appropriately fueled by Mötley Crüe’s “Kickstart My Heart.”

This same Huddle mechanic will prove essential for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy players as they fight to overcome seemingly impossible odds throughout their journey across the galaxy. In the game, players will be able to call a Huddle during combat and choose which motivational words to offer the team. If chosen correctly, all of the Guardians will receive a powerup, making it easier for them to bang enemy heads while listening to one of the game’s 30 headbanging tracks.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy will be available on PlayStation®5 console, PlayStation®4 console, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles, PC, and streaming via GeForce NOW on October 26, 2021. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Cloud Version for Nintendo Switch also coming to select regions October 26.

Bone crushing sci-fi third-person action coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S & PC

110 Industries is excited to announce that high-octane third-person action game Wanted: Dead is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Featuring spectacular melee combat and exciting gunplay, Wanted: Dead’s new teaser trailer offers a peek at a dark and dangerous version of sci-fi Hong Kong where you will need sharpened skills to survive.

Players assume the role of Lt. Hannah Stone, leader of the “Zombie Squad”, an elite team who work outside the purview of the traditional police force. Taking inspiration from the likes of Devil May Cry and Bayonetta, a deep combat system will give you the opportunity to take on enemies up-close and personal, or engage with guns from a distance, with cool slow-motion sequences, and a limb-severing mechanic that changes enemy attack patterns adding style and substance to combat encounters.

Among the talented team working on the game’s finessed combat systems are developers that previously worked on Ninja Gaiden and the Dead or Alive series.

Offering a change of pace to Wanted: Dead’s adrenaline-pumping combat, non-combat sections and the chance for Lt. Stone to chill at the HQ to consume food and drinks for buffs gives the game intriguing variety, as well as offering players the chance to soak in more of its rich lo-tech sci-fi world.

“Our latest trailer gives a glimpse of Wanted: Dead in glorious motion and we can’t wait to share more about the deep combat systems that underpin that breathtaking action”, said Founder and Creative Director at 110 Industries, Sergei Kolobashkin.

Tetris Effect: Connected Launches On Steam 8/18 With 25% Off & Free DLC Promo

Enhance and The Tetris Company, Inc. announced that their award-winning game Tetris® Effect: Connected will launch on Steam on August 18th with a special launch discount and free digital deluxe goods (wishlist here!), as well as come to all existing versions of Tetris Effect (PS4, Oculus Quest, Epic Games Store, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Microsoft Store PC) in the form of a free update that adds cross-platform multiplayer.

STEAM VERSION DISCOUNT / DIGITAL DELUXE DLC:
To celebrate Tetris Effect: Connected’s long-awaited debut on Steam, the game will be offered at a 25% discount for the first two weeks, along with the following “digital deluxe DLC” at no extra charge:

  • A seven-track soundtrack sampler by Hydelic, including the fan-favorite song “Connected (Yours Forever)” (previously only available for a limited time on PS4 and Epic Games as pre-order bonuses)
  • Eleven Tetris Effect-themed 4k PC Desktop Wallpapers
  • Seven Tetris Effect Profile Avatars

UPDATES COMING TO ALL VERSIONS OF THE GAME ON AUGUST 18 (more details below list):

  • Cross-platform play between all current versions of the game (Steam, PS4, Epic Games Store, Oculus Quest, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Microsoft Store PC, including Xbox Game Pass).
  • Bonus features include a new Spectator Mode, as well as PAL and “Slow” speed modes, coming to all versions of the game.
  • New performance or fidelity graphic options to boost resolution for Oculus Quest 2 headsets.
  • Remote Play available on the PS4 version.
  • Skill Rating (SR) reset in all versions of the game to re-calibrate matchmaking between similarly-skilled players (FYI current SR will be immortalized on the game’s website).

CROSS-PLATFORM PLAY
Furthering the game’s goal of bringing people together in cooperation and competition, the Tetris Effect: Connected update will allow Friend Match players to invite owners of the game on other platforms to all play together, via a simple, shareable 4-digit alphanumeric “Room ID” code. (Of course players can also invite others on their same platform directly via that platform’s native invite system as well.)

In addition to breaking down barriers between friends, wherever they might choose to play, cross-platform play will maximize the player base for Ranked Matches, ensuring better matchmaking and more equivalent competition for players at all levels.

Display of the Room ID can be disabled for those streaming their matches who wish to keep it private, and all platforms have the option of limiting themselves to players of their same platform. (Note: progress and achievements will not be shared across platforms.)

BONUS FEATURES
Spectator Mode (Friend Matches Only): The Tetris® Effect community’s #1 most-requested feature! Between 4 and 6 additional players, depending on the multiplayer mode, can join a match to watch as spectators (and emote from the sidelines in real-time), adding flexibility and convenience for anyone hoping to run or stream tournaments, or simply making it easier to drop in and out of games with a group of friends.

PAL Speed (Classic Score Attack Mode, Friend and Local Matches Only): A new option designed to replicate the feeling of the European PAL format of the Tetris game from the Nintendo Entertainment System, including a lower framerate, faster horizontal movement, and faster dropping speed in later levels.

Slow Speed (Zone Battle Mode, Friend and Local Matches Only): The flip-side of the Hyper Fast mode, this option, well, slows things down, with a longer entry delay for new Tetriminos, slower Line Clear speeds and slower horizontal movement. Helpful both for beginner players and also for advanced pros who can use the delay for more effective stacking and more devastating Zone Attacks.

ABOUT TETRIS® EFFECT: CONNECTED
Check out the Intro to Tetris Effect: Connected by aGameScout who explains the Multiplayer modes.

Among the new modes is the titular Connected, where three players can team up and literally connect their Matrix play fields to fight against A.I.-controlled Bosses; Zone Battle, a one-on-one match of standard competitive Tetris, but with a twist: the time-stopping Zone mechanic (first introduced in Tetris Effect’s single-player game); and Score Attack, a “single-player versus” mode, where two players compete separately to see who can get the best score.

Also included is a special variation on Score Attack mode, Classic Score Attack, which brings back the look and feel of Tetris from when it was first introduced to console gamers over 30 years ago. More than just a nostalgic coat of paint, Classic Score Attack recreates the old school controls and settings, including the removal of Hard Drop and the Hold Queue, Tetriminos Lock Down immediately when they touch a surface, and random Tetrimino generation. The mode also pays homage to a standard of “Pro” Tetris competition popularized by the Classic Tetris World Championship, an annual fan event that brings together some of the top Tetris players from all over the world.

The new multiplayer expansion joins the 10-plus single-player modes already included in the original Tetris Effect. This is Tetris like you’ve never seen it, or heard it, or felt it before—an incredibly addictive, unique, and breathtakingly gorgeous reinvention of one of the most popular puzzle games of all time, from the people who brought you the award-winning Rez Infinite and legendary puzzle game Lumines. Music, backgrounds, sounds, special effects—everything, down to the Tetriminos themselves, pulse, dance, shimmer, and explode in perfect sync with how you’re playing, making all of the game’s 30+ stages something you’ll want to experience over and over again.

Development is being handled by the same team of Monstars Inc. and Resonair as the original Tetris Effect, with additional coding and networking help from Tokyo-based Stage Games.
