The Cub Gets New Gameplay Trailer and Playable Steam Demo

Demagog Studio and Untold Tales have released a new gameplay trailer for The Cub to coincide with the release of their Steam demo plus the game’s showing at both the Tribeca Games Festival and the Guerilla Collective showcase.

The Cub is a 2D platform parkour game inspired by classic SEGA games of the 90s – The Jungle Book, Aladdin, Lion King – but with modern twists and ideas. Set in the same post-apocalyptic world as Golf Club: Wasteland, this time the story is from the point of view of those who stayed and survived on Earth as the ultra-rich fled to Mars as society collapsed.

The game was recently part of the final 9 games selected by the Tribeca Games Showcase that are innovating on the front of storytelling, art, and innovation alongside other upcoming titles such as Oxenfree 2, Cuphead – The Delicious Last Course, and A Plague Tale: Requiem.

A further feature showing at The Guerilla Collective is going to be followed by a spot in the June 2022 SteamNext Fest. The playable demo has however been made available now for anyone to try on Steam. It gives players a snippet of 3 different levels as well as a healthy dose of the next wave of Radio Nostalgia From Mars – the signature radio show broadcast of stories and tunes beaming from the ultra-rich colony on Mars.

Today independent developer Fatshark premiered a two-minute gameplay trailer from their upcoming 4 Player co-op game Warhammer 40,000: Darktide. The brand-new gameplay video, highlighting a mission playthrough, premiered during today’s Summer Game Fest broadcast, watched by millions all over the globe.

“It’s been an exciting, and maybe a little crazy week for Fatshark, with two brand new Warhammer 40,000: Darktide trailers released,” says Martin Wahlund, CEO Fatshark. “While last week’s amazing Warhammer Skulls trailer focused more on story, gameplay is what it all comes down to, and today we gave you almost 120 seconds of Darktide.”

Sci-fi Horror Game ROUTINE Re-Revealed at Summer Game Fest

Sci-fi horror game ROUTINE has unveiled a brand-new trailer during Summer Game Fest. Utilizing in-game footage, this trailer shows that the project has been revived and how much it has matured since its last showing. Developers Lunar Software have set out to create an immersive world that begs to be explored from the edge of your seat, with renowned composer Mick Gordon (Doom, Prey, Wolfenstein: The New Order) providing the atmospheric score and sound effects. In addition, Lunar Software has teamed up with indie publisher Raw Fury to support the project. ROUTINE will be coming to PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Game Pass.

First announced in 2013, ROUTINE stood out with its haunting premise in an isolated setting. Since then, the small team at Lunar Software has rebuilt the game from the ground up to align with the experience they originally set out to deliver. The team has released a statement along with the new trailer explaining their work on the project so far.

Raw Fury CEO Jonas Antonson said of ROUTINE: “Like many others, I have been waiting for this game for a long time. Originally, I thought I’d just get to experience it as a gamer and a fan. But then the developers decided to team up with us! I’m beyond excited to go on this amazing journey with them.”

About the Game

ROUTINE is a first-person sci-fi horror game. Set inside an abandoned moon base designed around an ’80s vision of the future, players will explore the decrepit station looking for answers about the events that unfolded there. Armed only with a Cosmonaut Assistance Tool (C.A.T.) to interact with the various computer systems, players must navigate whatever unknown dangers still remain.

In ROUTINE, players will need to outwit and outmaneuver a mysterious threat that lurks inside the decaying lunar complex. Explore the different sections of the station, from abandoned malls to deteriorating living quarters, to piece together the fate of those that once lived there. A minimal UI helps create a more immersive and tense experience as players attempt to run, hide, or defend themselves from any threats that may appear.

No official launch date has been set, but players who want to follow the game’s progress can wishlist it now on Steam.

This adventure will take you to familiar places like Neo Washington or the Jungle, as well as new locations like Neo Tokyo or a mysterious space station.

To work on this sequel and pay tribute to the original game, Paul Cuisset managed to bring back some team members like game designer Thierry Perreau and the composer of the famous Amiga soundtrack, Raphaël Gesqua.

Flashback was praised for its innovative animation in the early 90’s, the team wanted to keep that tradition going for this new episode. To achieve their goal, the world renown stuntman Jamel Blissat (Marvel’s Moon Knight Oscar Isaac body double) was hired to do Conrad B. Hart’s motion capture.

Under the Stairs and Gearbox Publishing Debut Eyes in the Dark: The Curious Case of One Victoria Bloom at PAX East

Eyes in the Dark: The Curious Case of One Victoria Bloom will be launching on Steam and the Epic Games Store on July 14, 2022 (MSRP: $14.99). In addition, Under the Stairs and Gearbox Publishing announced that starting today anyone who pre-purchases the title will receive a free copy of the game’s original soundtrack at launch (a $4.99 value).

In Eyes in the Dark, players control Victoria Bloom, a young girl searching for her grandfather who is lost somewhere in Bloom Manor, the family home that darkness has overrun. Find extra flashlight batteries to light up the dark, collect powerful new items to upgrade your arsenal, and attempt to defeat mysterious Guardians as you make your way through this monster-filled title that changes with every playthrough.

Key features of the title include:

  • Illuminate and Take Aim: Victoria starts with only a flashlight and slingshot to light her way and keep her safe, but you’ll soon uncover powerful gadgets to help find her grandad. Operate your flashlight and slingshot utilizing standard twin-stick shooter actions to ward off creepy crawlies and traverse Bloom Manor’s shadowy halls.
  • An Ever-Changing Mansion: Don’t expect a house tour when you arrive, because the arrangement and contents of Bloom Manor change with every playthrough. When entering new areas, players can choose between multiple different ways to increase their power and difficulty of the run, tailoring each playthrough with every decision.
  • A Powerful and Surprising Arsenal: As you make your way through Bloom Manor, grab and use all of items and upgrades to mix up the combat mechanics. Keep an eye out for the light-spreading Shotgun Bulb or Matches that set your enemies ablaze – items like these have unique effects that you can utilize by trying different combinations and setups.
  • Face the Darkness: As you progress through the game, you’ll find the Bloom family past casts a guiding light for Victoria’s future. Complete quests, and fight off monsters, and unlock secrets about the eccentric Bloom family that could come in handy as you delve deeper into the manor.

Eyes in the Dark creates an atmosphere of loneliness and isolation, all while giving you the tools to ultimately come out of the experience as a stronger person,” said Filip Neduk, game designer at Under the Stairs. “Victoria’s trial – going through the mansion alone and facing her fears – mirrors the player’s need to learn and master the mechanics of the game to progress; you both go through this adventure together.”

“It’s an incredible feeling when you get to bring your hard work into the light after such a long time, both for us developers and for the characters we create, like Victoria Bloom,” continued Vladimir Bogdanić, director at Under the Stairs. “One of the beautiful things that the team focused on was making sure that no two playthroughs of the game would be the same, regardless of how you guide Victoria. I’m ecstatic for fans to switch on their own flashlights and experience Eyes in the Dark on July 14th.”
