Devolver Direct Set to Reveal Cool Shit, Complicate Cinematic Universes on July 11

Devolver Digital’s signature marketing spectacle, the Devolver Direct, returns this year with a smattering of new reveals and a whooole new weirdly wonderful layer for its cinematic universe. If there’s a film equivalent to a seven-layer burrito, damn are we ever getting close.

Amid a groundbreaking new level of tedious digital showcases, Devolver Digital aims to raise the bar for overrated marketing videos with this year’s Devolver Direct on July 11 at 12:00PM Pacific Time. The seventh best indie game label will step up to the plate once more and whiff real hard with a live pre-recorded presentation on Twitch [http://twitch.tv/twitchgaming] and Steam.

This year’s showcase continues the tradition of overpromises with new game reveals, gameplay reveals, release date announcements, and special guests from the industry to help usher in these important marketing bullet points. And it’s nearly all gameplay because that’s what the youths of today demand.

The astonishing misuse of marketing budget will end with a few surprises and game demos available to play by the unwashed masses including Carrion, Disc Room, and an unannounced game. Maybe another game too, who can really tell where this is all leading.

Devolver Digital fans and detractors can catch up on the unnecessarily intricate narrative to the ongoing saga by watching last year’s Devolver Direct and begin their uninformed speculation at on Discord [http://discord.gg/devolverdigital].

Be sure to join the masses July 11 at noon PT for announcements, sweet sweet gameplay, and to hopefully catch an appearance from our favorite chief synergy officer.

Closed Beta Date Revealed During Show-stopping Gameplay Reveal of Mortal Shell

Two months since its breathtaking debut trailer amassed two million views in a single day, the uncompromising action-RPG Mortal Shell returned to the world stage this week with its first ever gameplay demonstration, followed by a stunning new trailer that revealed the game’s widely anticipated Closed Beta will commence July 3.

The showcase aired during the IGN Summer of Gaming event on Wednesday, opening with never-before-seen gameplay footage of Harros, one of the game’s four playable Shells. The demonstration follows Harros as he descends into the Crypt of Martyrs, a long-forgotten shrine now frozen and guarded by desperate adversaries.

This was followed by a new trailer centered around Eredrim, another of the game’s four Shells, whose path is resisted by formidable and awe-inspiring foes. At the conclusion of the trailer, developer Cold Symmetry and publisher Playstack also revealed that the game’s highly-anticipated Closed Beta will span one week and commence Friday, July 3 (visit the Discord Server for details and to register).

There’s more to come. Mortal Shell is set to take center stage again this week, with another scintillating gameplay video and all-new trailer scheduled to take place during the PCGaming Show on Saturday.

Borderlands 3’s Second Campaign Add-On and Steam Release Date Announced at PAX East

Borderlands 3 releases on Steam on March 13 with PC crossplay. Second campaign expansion – Guns, Love, and Tentacles: The Marriage of Wainwright & Hammerlock – launches March 26 across all platforms.

Who needs March Madness when Borderlands 3 is bringing you March Mayhem? During the Gearbox Main Theater Show at PAX East earlier today, Gearbox and 2K shared some big announcements regarding content coming to Borderlands 3 next month and beyond.

First, on March 13, Borderlands 3 will launch on Steam, with PC crossplay between Steam and the Epic Games Launcher. Thanks to some new SHiFT matchmaking functionality, you’ll be able to add friends to your Friends List, join co-op parties, and play together online regardless of which PC platform each player is using. Gearbox plans to roll out additional PC crossplay features – such as the ability to mail weapons across platforms – in the weeks following the game’s launch on Steam. Aspiring Vault Hunters can add Borderlands 3 to their Steam Wishlist now.

Then on March 26, you can dive into Borderlands 3‘s second campaign add-on for a surprisingly dangerous engagement party in Guns, Love, and Tentacles: The Marriage of Wainwright & Hammerlock. Sir Alistair Hammerlock and Wainwright Jakobs are finally tying the knot, and they want you to come celebrate their upcoming nuptials on the ice planet of Xylourgos. Its frozen wastes have thinned out all but the most vicious wildlife, and the eerie town of Cursehaven – where you’ve all agreed to meet – is located beneath the colossal carcass of a fallen Vault Monster.

As if this ice world’s biting cold and vicious wildlife weren’t unwelcoming enough, a band of creepy occultists who worship the Vault Monster’s carcass are hellbent on breaking up the betrothed partners. You’ll have to fight back the forces of otherworldly evil if Wainwright and Hammerlock are to have their happily ever after. Luckily, the most badass wedding planner in the galaxy has your back: Gaige, a fugitive Vault Hunter (and returning fan-favorite character) who’s inseparable from her robot BFF Deathtrap. And that’s not all:

  • Reunite with old friends and team up with some eerie new characters to help true love triumph over eldritch horror;
  • Confront bloodthirsty enemies and formidable bosses, including alien beasts, hideously mutated occultists, and a clan of cold-blooded bandits;
  • Delve into the disturbing and occasionally daft backstories of cursed townfolk in a host of spine-tingling side missions;
  • Arm your Vault Hunter with some of the deadliest gear in the galaxy, including a trove of additional Legendaries and some supremely powerful Class Mods; and,
  • Flaunt your sense of style with a slew of new cosmetic items, from Vault Hunter Heads & Skins to interactive Room Decorations and all-new Vehicle Skins.

Guns, Love, and Tentacles will put the love back in Lovecraft starting March 26 and is included with the Borderlands 3 Season Pass and Super Deluxe Edition, just like Moxxi’s Heist of The Handsome Jackpot

In addition to announcing the game’s second expansion, Gearbox and 2K also shared a sneak peek of Borderlands 3’s third campaign add-on, which will arrive this Summer. To see the concept art shared during today’s panel, just click right here. In case that’s not enough of a hint, we’ve got three words for you: outlaws and dinosaurs. We’re excited to tell you more about Borderlands 3‘s third and fourth campaign add-ons at a later date.

Gearbox and 2K also unveiled a content roadmap outlining the events and updates coming to Borderlands 3 this spring, all of which will be free to all players. First up in April are Mayhem Mode 2.0 and the Revenge of the Cartels seasonal event. Mayhem Mode 2.0 will overhaul Borderlands 3’s end-game by reinventing the ways in which Mayhem modifiers work. Revenge of the Cartels will see you tracking down and taking out cartel operatives to earn event-specific rewards.

Then in May, the second Takedown arrives! Much like Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite – which released last November – the Guardian Takedown will offer some of the most challenging content in the game. This intense standalone mission will be themed after the mysterious Eridians and will feature not only new bosses but new gear and cosmetics as well. The difficulty will scale to the size of the player party by default. However, if you want to experience the Takedown in its true form, you can select “True Takedown Mode,” which tunes the difficulty for a party of four fully leveled-up Vault Hunters regardless of party size.

We’ll have more to share about each of these content drops as they draw nearer, so stay tuned. And remember, there’s plenty of mayhem in store for the latter half of 2020. For now, be sure to catch up on the full PAX East panel on our Twitch channel to see Gearbox Software Studio Head Randy Pitchford chat with famed director Eli Roth about Eli’s involvement in the upcoming Borderlands movie, which is currently in development with Lionsgate and Arad Productions.

inXile entertainment—the studio led by Interplay founder and Wasteland co-creator Brian Fargo—along with Deep Silver, premiered a brand new trailer for the highly anticipated Wasteland 3 during the Inside Xbox show.

In this trailer the Patriarch of Colorado summons the Desert Rangers to his land and warns of the dangers they’ll encounter. With their home state of Arizona in dire need of the aid the Patriarch is offering, the Rangers have no choice but to brave the frozen wasteland, deal with the cults and gangs that inhabit it, and hope the Patriarch will stay true to his word.

Wasteland 3 is set to release on Xbox One, Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation® 4, Windows, Mac, and Linux in spring 2020. The legendary series, which pioneered the post-apocalypse genre in video games, returns players to the role of Desert Rangers, lawmen in a post-nuclear world working to rebuild civilization from the ashes. Trading the dry, dusty heat of the American southwest for a perpetually frozen Colorado, Wasteland 3 features a number of chilling new locations where the Rangers receive an even frostier reception from the locals.
