New EVERSPACE 2 Demo Releases Today PLUS an Unexpectedly Early Look at the Next Update’s Khaït Nebula

Following a massive update to the Early Access version of EVERSPACE 2, ROCKFISH Games is releasing a brand new demo that reflects much of the polish that has gone into the game since last year’s Prototype build was released. The demo, currently available on Steam, allows players to experience a significant portion of EVERSPACE 2’s first star system before deciding to delve headfirst into a action-packed space shooter RPG, set in a carefully hand-crafted, pseudo-open game world.

Space game enthusiasts on the fence can play the EVERSPACE 2 demo on Steam now.

“As a 100% self-funded veteran indie dev, maximum transparency with our fans has always been at the very center of our communication. As said many times before, we have a super strong vision about the game our team is passionate about making, and we’re fully committed to the promises we made in our Kickstarter campaign,” said Michael Schade, CEO and co-founder of ROCKFISH Games. “However, we understand that making an arguably insanely pretty space game that borrows from various iconic space shooters as well as some of the most popular open-world ARPGs and looter-shooters might create expectations way beyond what’s within our budget and our capabilities as an indie studio of 20ish developers plus a handful of highly-talented external contractors. So, even though we have hosted over 90 weekly gamedev and community streams on our Twitch and YouTube channels where we always show the latest EVERSPACE 2 dev build live in action and answer all sorts of burning questions from our community, we understand that the space devil can be in the space details for some hardcore space sim aficionados. Hence, we’ve decided to release a new demo that is 100% based on the most recent Early Access version so that every space pilot on the fence about pulling the trigger can check out our work without any strings attached.”

The new EVERSPACE 2 demo is content-gated, offering access to the first five main missions, two side missions and many random encounters, so players will have as much time as they’d like to explore every asteroid field and outlaw base in the first sector of the Ceto system. Save games will carry over from the demo to the Early Access version, so EVERSPACE 2 first-time pilots who want to continue the adventure can easily do so without losing game progress. However, the demo’s player level is capped to level five to ensure a compelling experience when transitioning to the full game, while, after finishing the available missions, demo pilots can grind for resources and in-game currency as long as they please to get a headstart after pulling the trigger on the full game.

Find out more about the demo and other EVERSPACE 2 news in the latest Steam news.

Khaït Nebula Teaser

In the fourth star system, Early Access pilots will encounter new and familiar alien life forms. Pilots who played  the early EVERSPACE 2 prototype can look forward to the return of the popular Shadow Creatures, whose mating rituals require a little help, for which they will show their gratitude by dropping valuable resources for the player in case of a happy ending.

A variety of space stations and special locations in the Khaït Nebula await, where familiar gameplay elements are combined with new ones to offer experienced pilots new challenges without completely overwhelming less seasoned players.

In addition to raising the maximum player level and adding a set of new player perks, the autumn update will also add several chapters to the campaign. This will not only reveal new essential secrets in the EVERSPACE universe but will also put Adam Roslin and his companions to the test, where their common cause is threatened by conflicting personal interests.

Every Friday, the ROCKFISH Games team shows off content from their latest EVERSPACE 2 dev build on the ROCKFISH Games Twitch and YouTube channel from 8 pm to 10 pm CEST / 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm EST / 11:00 am to 1:00 pm PST. Viewers even have the chance to ask questions directly to various members of the dev team, while the CEO and co-founder, Michael Schade, is almost always moderating both chats.

Skateboard fans get ready to do a kickflip all over again when the critically acclaimed Tony Hawk’sTM Pro SkaterTM 1 and 2 makes its way to PlayStation® 5 and Xbox Series X|S on March 26 and lands on Nintendo Switch™ for the first time in 2021. The upcoming, next-gen versions of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 will give players a variety of upgrades, such as super crisp 120 FPS at 1080P, native 4K at 60 FPS, spatial audio and more, while the game on Nintendo Switch™ will give fans the chance to ollie with Tony Hawk and the line-up of pro-skaters on-the-go.

As the fastest Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game to sell 1 million units, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 is a faithful remaster of the first two iconic games in the franchise, blending all the original levels, pro-skaters, old-school tricks and more that gamers remember from the ‘90s and ‘2000s with new, beautifully recreated levels.

High-fidelity atmospherics will be added to the next-gen upgrade for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2. This unique graphical feature will allow players to enjoy the experience of sharper dynamic shadows, reflections and lens flares, as well as enhanced skater textures and more on next-gen consoles.

CRASH BANDICOOT 4: IT’S ABOUT TIME IS AVAILABLE NOW

The time is now. The un-fur-gettable marsupials, Crash and Coco Bandicoot, are back to take players on a wumpy ride of cosmic proportions in the brand-new game, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time. The long-awaited sequel to the original Crash Bandicoot™ trilogy is available worldwide today for PlayStation® 4, PlayStation® 4 Pro and the family of Xbox One devices from Microsoft, including the Xbox One X.

As the first original Crash Bandicoot title in more than a decade, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time is built from the ground up and brings with it an onslaught of absurd challenges for players to conquer. In the game, players uncover four powerful Quantum Masks, the guardians of space and time, that must be reunited to restore order to the multiverse.

Fans can play as newly designed Crash or Coco on their journey to save the multiverse and can even play as the fiendish Dr. Neo Cortex, Dingodile or Tawna, each equipped with their own unique playstyle. Many of the levels in the game feature the perspective-shifting, core precision platforming that fans know and love, while others will introduce players to massive bosses, high-speed mount rides and thrilling chases.

Along the way, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time offers an N. sane amount of fun to be had as players unlock additional optional Timelines and Flashback Tapes, gain access to Bonus areas, as well as earn Gems, new cosmetic skins, Color Gems and more Wumpa than you can shake a stick at. An all-new style of play called N. Verted mode gives players alternate perspectives, sound effects, music and in some dimensions, additional transformations to experience. Fans can also try their hands at Modern and Retro modes or compete head-to-head with up to four players in either Bandicoot Battle competitive mode or Pass N. Play co-op mode – because sharing is caring.

Developed by Toys For Bob and published by Activision, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time is available for the suggested retail price of $59.99 in the U.S. For more information on the Crash Bandicoot franchise, please visit www.crashbandicoot.com and follow @CrashBandicoot on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time Flashback Levels

We have exciting news to share with Crash fans today! Starting at launch, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s about Time will include “Flashback” levels, which will give players the ability to rewind time back to the ‘90s – the greatest era ever!

The Flashback levels are designed to challenge players’ puzzle solving and technical performing abilities. They also give fans even more ways to play. Through the collection of Flashback Tapes, players discover Crash and Coco’s origin story and experience Bandicoot training in Neo Cortex’s Test Chambers – but the task won’t be easy.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time launches October 2, 2020, and is available on PS4 and Xbox.

CRASH BANDICOOT 4: IT’S ABOUT TIME DEBUTS A NEW STYLE OF PLAY, NEW PLAYABLE CHARACTER & NEW SKINS DURING PLAYSTATION’S STATE OF PLAY EVENT

Crash Bandicoot is back and going “all-new” in Crash Bandicoot™ 4: It’s About Time™. Debuted today during PlayStation’s “State of Play” event is an all-new mode of play that’s being added to the platform adventure called: N. Verted mode – a Bumpa-berry fueled mirror mode which lets players traverse through neon wastelands, old timey film sets that crank up gameplay speed and other awe-inspiring new takes on Crash’s world. But that’s not all! More characters from the Crash Bandicoot™ multiverse are coming back, including Dingodile, tail-slapping his way through crates, now as a new playable character in the platform adventure games. Additionally, many zany unlockable skins will be available when the game launches on October 2, 2020. PlayStation players will also get to enjoy several additional time-shattering skins upon reaching the Dimensional Map.

To help create this mind-bending style of play for Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, lead developer Toys for Bob collaborated with friends at Beenox to create the unique presentations in this mode. Properly named the “N. Verted mode” – this bizarre take on levels takes the concept of mirror mode and phase-shifts it into entirely new dimensions, giving players alternate perspectives, sound effects, music and in some dimensions, extra additional transformations to the gameplay experience. Players will be able to master every world all over again by replaying in N. Verted mode, earning Bumpa-berries instead of Wumpa fruit, with opportunities to rack up even more rewards.

“This is the first new game in the Crash Bandicoot series in more than a decade, so we felt it was important to introduce a brand-new style of play,” said Paul Yan, Chief Creative Officer and Co-Studio Head at Toys for Bob. “We teamed up with our good friends at Beenox to help us develop N. Verted mode, and they brought all of the same passion and expertise that went into the amazing Crash™ Team Racing Nitro-Fueled.”

Crash and Coco will also be joined by new playable characters at key points on their journey to save the multiverse. In addition to already revealed Neo Cortex, enter fan-favorite Dingodile – half dingo, half crocodile – as a playable character for the first time in the platform adventure games! After Crash Bandicoot: Warped, Dingodile hung up his old flamethrower-rocket launcher combo and retired from a life of villainy. But now he’s back with unfinished business, falling through space and time into another dimension where his adventure to return home begins.

Further customizing the bandicoot experience, Toys for Bob is revealing unlockable skins for Crash and Coco that will be unlocked by players that earn gems and complete challenges throughout the game. These all-new skins are totally cosmetic, giving bandicoots dozens of costumes and wacky outfits to wear across levels while showing off their achievements, adding another level of zaniness to the N. Sane nature of Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time. From pirate garb, to space suits, to unicorn onesies, dinosaur scales and more – you’ll need serious skills to unlock every skin in the game! Arriving first on PlayStation are two additional sets of skins for Crash and Coco awarded automatically after players complete the second level of the game and access the Dimensional Map. These skins, dubbed “Marsupus Erectus” and “Serious Upgrade,” will be available on other platforms no earlier than December 31, 2021.

“Toys for Bob has pulled out all the stops modernizing this classic franchise, from bringing to life visually stunning worlds, to creating a wide breadth of content and new ways to play, like N. Verted mode and additional playable characters,” said Michelle Bresaw, Vice President of Product Management and Marketing at Activision. “We’re confident this is a sequel fans have been waiting for, staying true to the franchise, while also bringing a fresh, new experience.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time will be available for PlayStation® 4, PlayStation® 4 Pro, Xbox One and Xbox One X on Oct. 2, 2020. Pre-orders are live now for a suggested retail price of $59.99 in the U.S. For more information on the Crash Bandicoot franchise, please visit www.crashbandicoot.com and follow @CrashBandicoot on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

‘Cyberpunk 2077’ Ray Tracing Features and NVIDIA DLSS 2.0 Support

With a compelling storyline, expansive open-world gameplay and jaw dropping graphics, Cyberpunk 2077 has all the pieces in place to be a gaming blockbuster.  Today, it was revealed that Cyberpunk 2077 will support  performance-enhancing NVIDIA DLSS 2.0, along with new details about how the game will use ray tracing, which are  showcased  in this new trailer.

Gamers can expect to experience the following ray-traced features in Cyberpunk 2077 at launch:

  • Ray-traced ambient occlusion – Ambient occlusion is a shading and rendering technique used to calculate how exposed each point in a scene is to ambient lighting. The result is a diffuse shading effect that darkens enclosed and sheltered areas and enhances the rendered image’s overall tone. In Cyberpunk 2077, ray-traced ambient occlusion additionally can be used with local lights to approximate local shadowing effects where shadows are missing.
  • Ray-traced diffuse illumination – This technique is used to capture sky radiance as well as emissive lighting from various surfaces, which is difficult to achieve with traditional rendering techniques.
  • Ray-traced reflections – In Cyberpunk 2077, ray-traced reflections are used on all surfaces and can trace ranges for up to several kilometers. They are present on both opaque and transparent objects to simulate the way light reflects from glossy and metal surfaces by tracing a single bounce of reflection rays against the scene. This includes smooth natural mirrors like window glass, but also rougher surfaces like brushed metal. Unlike screen space techniques which can only reflect what’s on screen, ray-traced reflections incorporate the entire scene around the character, and can accurately represent objects outside the camera view or facing away from the camera.
  • Ray-traced shadowsCyberpunk 2077 preview supports directional shadows from the sun and the moon. These shadows aim to be physically accurate and even account for light scattering from clouds. Shadows may be enhanced in the final release to support other types of light sources where it is needed.

Ray tracing and NVIDIA DLSS 2.0, are expected to be available at launch on November 19, 2020.

Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most anticipated games of all-time,” said Jason Paul, vice president of GeForce platform marketing at NVIDIA. “Combined with CD PROJEKT RED’s incredible story-telling and stunning artistry, RTX-powered ray tracing and NVIDIA DLSS 2.0 help to make Cyberpunk 2077 a ‘must-play’ game of 2020.”

About DXR Ray Tracing

Ray tracing is a lighting technique that brings a realistic look to 3D objects. Ray tracing attempts to show light in the same way as the real world by tracing the path of light from the camera to a light source and simulating the effects of its encounters with virtual objects. The dramatic increase in image quality resulting from ray tracing greatly increases the sense of immersion, particularly for a game with tons of geometry and complex dynamic lighting such as Cyberpunk 2077.

To achieve ray tracing, Cyberpunk 2077 takes advantage of the industry-standard DirectX 12 Ultimate API, which is supported by all NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPUs. NVIDIA pioneered the features of DirectX 12 Ultimate with its Turing GPU architecture, launched in 2018.

About NVIDIA DLSS 2.0

DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) is an NVIDIA RTX technology that uses AI to boost frame rates while generating beautiful, crisp game images. In Cyberpunk 2077, DLSS 2.0 gives gamers the performance headroom to increase graphics settings and increase output resolutions.

DLSS works by training a deep neural network on tens of thousands of high-resolution beautiful images, rendered offline in a supercomputer at very low frame rates and 64 samples per pixel. Based on knowledge from countless hours of training, the network can then take lower-resolution images as input and construct high-resolution, beautiful images.

Turing’s Tensor Cores, with up to 110 teraflops of dedicated AI horsepower, make it possible for the first time to run this deep learning network on games in real time. The result is a big performance gain and sharp video quality, while minimizing ringing and temporal artifacts like sparkling.

About Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077, is one of the year’s most anticipated titles. It is being created by CD PROJEKT RED, the Polish studio that brought us The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – a popular choice for ‘Game of the Year’ and the highest-rated action RPG of the last decade.
