Classic Sci-Fi Survival Horror Is Back When Dead Space Launches January 27, 2023 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC

Motive, a studio of Electronic Arts Inc. today announced during their Crafting the Tension Art Developer Livestream that Dead Space™will officially launch on January 27, 2023 for PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Dead Spaceis a remake of the classic sci-fi survival horror game that is being rebuilt from the ground up leveraging the Frostbite™ game engine. Still remaining true to the original game’s thrilling vision, the remake offers enhanced audio and crisp, harrowing visuals that have been carefully reimagined to evoke a new level of immersion and quality.

“Developing this remake has been a lot of fun for us at Motive, as we’re true fans of the franchise and want to treat it with the respect it deserves. It’s been equally exciting to see players’ reactions as we’re taking them on this development journey with us,” said Phillippe Ducharme, Senior Producer of Dead Space. “We’re making great progress on our road to hitting Alpha and we’re happy to announce that the game will be launching in January next year. Dead Spaceputs players in the boots of Isaac Clarke, an everyman engineer on a routine mission to fix a gigantic mining starship, the USG Ishimura. But aboard the Ishimura, a living nightmare awaits. The ship’s crew has been slaughtered and infected, and Isaac’s girlfriend, Nicole, is missing somewhere on board. Alone and trapped, with only his engineering tools and skills, Isaac faces a battle for survival – not only against terrifying monsters called Necromorphs, but his own crumbling sanity.

Also revealed today in the Dead Space livestream, the team at Motive showcased an early look at how the remake visually evolves and updates the original with in-game props, tools, environments and more being reconstructed to a level of polish and details fit for the next generation of hardware and PCs. Moreover, by combining enhancements like dynamic, volumetric lighting with atmospheric and environmental VFX rendered in full-HDR, Dead Space allows players to confront the frighteningly tight corridors and shadowed hallways of the USG Ishimura with unprecedented levels of immersion for the beloved franchise.

First Deliver Us Mars developer diary reveals the process behind a bigger and more ambitious sequel 

Frontier Foundry, the games label of Frontier Developments plc (AIM: FDEV), today released the first developer diary for Deliver Us Mars, the cinematic narrative-driven adventure game by KeokeN Interactive coming to Xbox, PlayStation and PC. Episode 1 – Journey to the Red Planet’ gives players an early overview of the game’s story as the team at KeokeN take us deep into their creative process for building an ambitious sequel to 2019’s Deliver Us The Moon.  

‘Journey to the Red Planet’ takes us behind-the-scenes on the narrative design of Deliver Us Mars, diving into the environmental themes that define the game’s setting, the personal stakes of the story and the painstaking effort made by the team to create an authentic-feeling astronaut experience. Players will also get a very early glimpse at the all-new traversal system and puzzle mechanics coming to the game, which become increasingly more complex as the story progresses. 

Deliver Us Mars is set in a future where Earth has been ravaged by climate change, and world-altering floods are a part of our everyday lives. In the game, which is set 10 years after Deliver Us The Moon, players join a group of astronauts on a high-stakes mission to ensure humanity’s future. Their goal is to retrieve the enormous colonization ships known as the ARKs from the shadowy organization known as Outward, in order to revitalize planet Earth before it’s too late. Along the way, they’ll uncover the truth behind what happened to Outward’s missing colony.  

This developer diary reveals that the game will depict the complicated relationship between a father and his daughter. While a full story reveal for Deliver Us Mars will arrive in the coming months, observant fans of Deliver Us The Moon may be able to guess the identity of the protagonist in this sequel based on visual clues in this developer diary.  

Unlike Deliver Us The Moon’s main character, this hero is fully voiced. Her personality, motivations, and history will unfold in her own words as she explores the Martian landscape and the game’s multiple other locations. With motion-captured performances by a talented cast, this sequel represents a huge jump in narrative presentation – enabling the developers at KeokeN Interactive to capture the emotional nuances of the characters and heighten the level of drama players will feel throughout the story.

The Longest Road Games kickstart today the weekly dev diary of IDEA, their recently announced physics-based puzzle art game about wonder, discovery and sharing. WWE® 2K22 MyGM Trailer and Ringside Report Provides In-Depth Look at New Mode

2K today unveiled the WWE® 2K22 MyGM trailer and Ringside Report #2, the second entry in an ongoing video series offering deep dives into the game’s features, mechanics, and more. The MyGM trailer features voiceover from Stephanie McMahon, WWE’s Chief Brand Officer and a former Monday Night Raw and SmackDown General Manager herself, as she offers an overview of the new mode and advice to intrepid players. The Ringside Report #2 video gives fans a deeper look at MyGM, one of the most highly anticipated new game modes in WWE 2K22, breaking down systems, important player choices, and management mechanics.

In the Ringside Report, Creative Director Lynell Jinks, Art Producer Christina Diem Pham, Design Director Alan Flores, Producer Bryan Fritz, and Senior Designer Chris Misenas walk viewers through MyGM, from the initial choice of one of five General Managers – including Stephanie McMahon herself – and four distinct brands, to the eventual goal of hosting WrestleMania and crushing the competition. Along the way, the Visual Concepts developers trade verbal jabs while providing tips and tricks, showcasing the many unique ways player expression can manifest through management styles.

Throughout the MyGM deep dive, the Visual Concepts team explores:

  • General Manager and brand selections, impacting gameplay throughout the mode with power-ups and distinct interactions;
  • Drafting a balanced roster, including custom Superstars, while managing budget to later sign free agents, enhancement talent and Legends;
  • Match booking and show logistics, allowing players to choose various match types, arena locations, production elements and more;
  • Power Cards and Commissioner Goals, providing gameplay boosts and guidance should players choose to follow it, or not;

WWE® 2K22 Ringside Report Unveils 9+ Minutes of Gameplay Footage with Developer Commentary

2K today unveiled WWE® 2K22 Ringside Report #1, the first in an ongoing video series offering deep dives into the game’s features, mechanics, and more. The Ringside Report #1 video showcases WWE 2K22 gameplay and provides a closer look at some of the new advancements that make this iteration of the franchise Hit Different.

Creative Director Lynell Jinks, Art Producer Christina Diem Pham, Principal Designer Jason Vandiver, Senior Producer Jonathan Rivera, and Senior Designer Derek Donahue provide commentary as a full WWE 2K22 match plays out, pitting cover Superstar Rey Mysterio against emerging phenom Damian Priest in more than nine minutes of gameplay.

Throughout the match, the Visual Concepts team highlights:

  • New dynamic animations, only possible through the redesigned gameplay engine, on display from both Superstars in the ring. The Superstars feel more responsive and easier to control, and each move connects smoother and more precisely.
  • An overhauled lighting engine that showcases the extreme details of the Superstars, making them look hyper realistic.
  • Tweaked object physics allow for unexpected moments throughout the match. Kendo sticks fray with each hit, and tables and corner barricades break dynamically to create a more authentic match experience.
  • Strategic defensive commands which include blocking, dodging, and breakers.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands Shows Off Final Class Trailer Alongside New Game Details

Today, 2K and Gearbox Software revealed the final two classes for Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands® as part of a major update detailing an overview of the Multiclass system, a new character, and more exciting environments and enemies. The brand new “Welcome to Wonderlands #3” trailer and Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands Game Guide provide a deeper look, and a third Dev Diary offers intriguing perspectives straight from the Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands development team.

All Six Classes Revealed

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands has a deep and highly customizable class system centered around the Multiclass mechanic that lets you mix and match abilities from six unique character skill trees. With Stabbomancer, Brr-Zerker, Spellshot, and Clawbringer revealed previously, the Graveborn and Spore Warden round out the classes available at launch in Wonderlands:

  • Graveborn are Death-touched acolytes who sacrifice health to unleash devastating Dark Magic attacks and become the phantasmal Reaper of Bones. They use their Demi-Lich Companion and sacrificial Action Skills to enact suffering upon their enemies, even at the cost of their own life force. Any Spell cast by the Graveborn will cause the Demi-Lich to cast a unique spell of their own, as well as triggering Kill Skills to summon hellish minions.
  • Spore Warden are masters of nature who summon tornadoes and launch volleys of arcane arrows into enemy lines alongside their toxin-spewing Mushroom Companion. They are Gun and Companion specialists that can significantly boost the abilities of their companions and allies while laying down withering firepower and slowing advancing enemies with Frost tornadoes. Speed and distance are a Spore Warden’s best friends.

New Multiclass System

The best part of being the Fatemaker—besides all the chaotic fantasy adventures and general badassery—is harnessing the power of two mythical classes to become a truly hybridized hero. When your journey begins, you’ll choose a starting class, wielding the strengths and abilities of a Brr-Zerker, Clawbringer, Graveborn, Spellshot, Spore Warden, or Stabbomancer. As you progress in Wonderlands, you’ll gain access to the Multiclass system and open up a secondary class slot, with a wide world of possible character builds. Each class is defined by a permanent Class Feat, two iconic Action Skills to choose between, and a skill tree loaded with passive abilities.

The Dangers of the Wonderlands

The vast and diverse world of the Wonderlands is slowly coming into view. Each area has its own robust side quests, and unique enemies, including:

  • Crackmast Cove be a haven for all manner of necrotized naval ne’er-do-wells, so ye’d best pack your blackest powder and most cutly lass, lest ye wish to share their fate! Also, it’s the only place in the game where you can talk like all piratical and no one’s allowed to judge you for it;
  • Drowned Abyss, the nightmarish expanse, lies beneath the ocean waves, below the wreckage of broken ships and even broken-er dreams. These sunken fissures are teeming with baddies like Coiled queens roaming the depths and the uncool-kind-of-sirens luring unsuspecting marks, kevins, and kyles to their watery graves.

Facing Down Your Enemies

The world of Wonderlands is a wild and slightly warped take on high fantasy, with a seemingly endless stream of monsters to battle. Today we take a closer look at:

  • Pirates are a constant menace in the Wonderlands. Yo-ho-ho and a bottle of strictly non-alcoholic soda! Ye might think death would be enough to set these larcenous terrors of the seas on a more societally constructive career path … and ye’d be wrong! These guys are extremely committed to the bit. So hold on tight to your doubloons.

A New Character Joins the Fray

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is full of charming, hilarious, and off-the-wall characters. From the tyrannical Dragon Lord to Tiny Tina herself, journeying through the story brings you together with both familiar faces and brand-new personalities:

  • Bones Three-Wood’s long, intricate, and sad backstory is so well thought-out and definitely written in advance that just hearing it will make you cry your kidneys out of your eyes. Leading from the prow, Bones only sails in the most dangerous waters, always emerging victorious and laden with booty. Or, he would if he still had a crew. Now he spends his days guarding the southern gate of the Briny Shelf.
