Independent games publisher Modus Games along with developers ACE Team and Giant Monkey Robot today announced that Rock of Ages 3: Make & Break’s chaotically creative fans can barrel into the game’s Closed Alpha on Steam starting January 10, 2020. The Closed Alpha will mark the first chance for players to enjoy this distinctive blend of strategy and destruction ahead of its early 2020 launch on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Xbox One.

By signing up at www.RockOfAges3.com and joining the Closed Alpha on Steam, gamers will earn a bonus ‘Retro Boulder’ and a Guinea Pig Banner to display in-game. Their pace should match that of Rock of Ages 3: Make & Break’s hurtling stones: sign-ups will be honored on a first-come, first-served basis when the Closed Alpha on Steam runs from January 10 to January 13 and is the first public chance for hors d’oeuvre of cheese wheel-rolling, arcade-style action and strategic tower defense. Thankfully, a visual feast is available for everyone today, as a new video gives a more in-depth look at what’s possible with the brand new ‘Create’ mode.

Rock of Ages 3: Make & Break will mark a first in the smash hit series by allowing players to shape their wildest ideas into custom stages and share them across the game’s community. Intuitive, deep creation tools provide ample opportunities for up to four friends to create exciting challenges for local and online multiplayer, making Rock of Ages 3: Make & Break a boulder-sized experience.

Featuring an inventive retelling of history flush with Monty Python-esque humor, Rock of Ages 3: Make & Break cleverly tumbles through pivotal moments of humanity while adding a few eccentricities along the way. Historical figures like Caesar are as likely to show up as the fearsome Krampus or Flying Spaghetti Monster, making for a tale as imaginative as it is unforgettable.

I've been an avid gamer since I stumbled upon ZORK running in my local Radio Shack in 1980. Ten years later I was working for Sierra Online. Since then I've owned nearly every game system and most of the games to go with them. Not sure if 40+ years of gaming qualifies me to write reviews, but I do it anyway.
