Founded by Jordan Weisman and L. Ross Babcock III, FASA Corporation has been creating successful new game worlds since 1980. On November 19, 1998, the wheels of fate began to turn and FASA Interactive headed westward, toward the Microsoft campus, and to much greater things. The group split into four tactical squads; MechWarrior 4, MechCommander 2, GameOS, and Intellectual Properties.
After shipping the best-selling action game MechWarrior 4 in November 2000, a reorganization of the game groups at Microsoft enabled us to reclaim our heritage and establish the internal game studio known as FASA Studio. The studio is comprised of extraordinary talent from both the old FASA Interactive as well as Microsoft Games. Together we focus intensely on creating the next generation of PC and Xbox games. We are fierce. We have a vision. We are FASA Studio.
The word FASA is an acronym for "Freedonian Aeronautics and Space Administration" (it's crazy, we know!). The name was invented by Jordan Weisman, the original founder of FASA Games and a huge Marx Brothers fan.
