‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’ Looks and Plays Great on GeForce RTX with Ray Tracing Enabled

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available now, and ray tracing looks phenomenal and plays great on GeForce RTX GPUs!

Performance is Great – RTX ON!

We’ve worked together with Activision, Infinity Ward, and Beenox to optimize overall game performance, to ensure gamers will be able to achieve 60+ FPS with ray tracing enabled across our entire line of GeForce RTX GPUs, ranging from 1080p to 4K resolution depending on your GPU.

  • GeForce RTX 2060 plays at 60 FPS, max settings, at 1080p with ray tracing enabled
  • GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER plays at 60 FPS, max settings, at 1440p with ray tracing enabled
  • GeForce RTX 2080 Ti plays at 60 FPS, max settings, at 4K with ray tracing enabled

Subtle But Impactful

As humans we are constantly subconsciously picking up visual cues in our day-to-day life. We know the location of the light source and object that is casting the shadow based on the position of the shadow. We know that a soft edge is further away from the source than a hard edge. We register these cues without thinking about them and our brain is constantly trained to deal with the information these subtle cues deliver.

These subtle cues are sometimes missing when we play video games, because in-game lighting does not always mimic real life. The result is a break in the immersion. The increased accuracy of lighting and shadows ray tracing provides creates a more immersive Call of Duty experience.

Call of Duty is one of the largest gaming franchises in the world, and yet another huge AAA title that is using ray tracing to create immersive visuals. This illustrates the momentum that ray tracing is building in the gaming ecosystem.

As industry leaders, the Call of Duty Team is always looking for ways to push technical boundaries to the limit, allowing for more realism and immersion in their games, and ray tracing is the perfect way to do that. Real-time ray tracing is changing the way games are created and dramatically increases the image quality they can achieve.

I've been an avid gamer since I stumbled upon ZORK running in my local Radio Shack in 1980. Ten years later I was working for Sierra Online. Since then I've owned nearly every game system and most of the games to go with them. Not sure if 40+ years of gaming qualifies me to write reviews, but I do it anyway.
